Puzzling via your library aids mental health
Puzzling via your library is a fun way that will encourage social interaction among patrons, as well as promoting a love of lifelong learning. It is also a very useful activity for aiding mental health.
How puzzling via your library can benefit mental health
The Clue Detective Puzzle Agency is committed to responding to the escalating mental health crisis left in the wake of COVID-19. Puzzling can benefit mental health, wellbeing, and self-esteem. When done via their library, puzzlers can enjoy engaging their brain to focus on something helpful and wholesome and have the satisfaction of solving a problem and building resilience. Later, when they are home alone and are perhaps feeling a little low, flat or lonely they have a coping strategy. It helps them to focus on an enjoyable pastime until the negative feelings subside. If they do this regularly, they will get better at realising they have a plan in place. They will feel much better knowing they can deal with it.
Form a library puzzle club
A library is in a strong position to form valuable (mental health) partnerships with its visiting patrons and stakeholders (e.g. neighbourhood houses, hospitals, retirement villages). Running a CUSP (Catch Up to Solve Puzzles) club provides an opportunity to bring patrons together and raise mental health awareness in its community. With the advancements in today’s technology, in particular Zoom, these sessions don’t have to be restricted to within the library walls; patrons can log in from anywhere. Clue Detective codewords are highly compatible with Zoom software, which makes it possible to a highly engaging, entertaining session to be run, and to a much wider audience.
