Suggest Words and Topics for Puzzles

To help us grow the Clue Detective Crack the Codeword collection, we would love to hear your suggestions of words and topics that keep our puzzles fresh, challenging, and engaging for a broad audience. Here are some suggestions:

  • General Knowledge Themes – Develop puzzles around areas such as science (e.g., ‘atom’, ‘gravity’, ‘orbit’), history (‘pharaoh’, ’empire’, ‘settler’), geography (‘peninsula’, ‘reef’, ‘savannah’), and literature (‘author’, ‘novel’, ‘poem’).
  • Pop Culture and Entertainment – Use topics like movies, music genres, famous actors, TV shows, and sporting events.
  • Seasonal and Event-Based Words – Incorporate words related to holidays, festivals, and major events (Christmas, Library Lover’s Day),
  • Nature and Wildlife – Add words about Australian animals (like ‘koala’, ‘platypus’, ‘echidna’), plants (‘wattle’, ‘eucalyptus’), New Zealand trees (like ‘kauri’, rimu) and weather phenomena (‘cyclone’, ‘drought’, ‘storm’).
  • Food and Drink – Explore words related to international cuisine (e.g. cheese, pasta), beverages (‘flat white’, ‘milkshake’), and dining experiences.
  • Travel and Leisure – Feature topics involving holiday destinations (capital cities), outdoor activities (‘bushwalking’, ‘surfing’, mountaineering), and travel essentials.
  • Fashion – suggest words about items of clothing, both current and from times gone by (eg. hats)
